An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Santa Tecla. Third ranked Santa Tecla faced 4th placed Salvadorenos. Host Santa Tecla (10-3) smashed guests from San Salvador (9-4) 91-48. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Salvadorenos. They outrebounded Salvadorenos 45-33 including 32 on the defensive glass. Santa Tecla looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Salvadorenos' players. Eliezer Sanchez fired a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Dominican Xavier dela Rosa (196-1991) chipped in 22 points and 10 assists. Naturalized Mali power forward Ibrahima Traore (208-2005, college: Utah) produced 9 points and 13 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Santa Tecla have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with A.Lobos. Salvadorenos at the other side keep the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with San Salvador. Santa Tecla is looking forward to face league's leader Metapan on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Salvadorenos will have a break next round.

Worth to mention a great performance of Cuban forward Yoel Cubillas (204-1994) who helped to win the game recording 27 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Lee Vasquez contributed with 22 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Metapan's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Daylon Potts (196, college: Simpson, CA) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists for Santa Ana. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Metapan. They maintain first place with 12-1 record. Santa Ana lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with 12 games lost. They share it with Ahuachapan. Metapan will play against Santa Tecla (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. The game in Cojutepeque was also quite interesting. Sixth ranked Brujos (7-6) played at the court of 7th ranked Cojute (4-9). Brujos managed to secure a 4-point victory 68-64 on Saturday. Brent Kelly stepped up and scored 27 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals for the winners. At the losing side Hector Maldonado responded with 36 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Cojute's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Brujos maintains sixth place with 7-6 record.
